Ruby's wardrobe

This work explores the theme of materialism and feminism. It’s not my relationship to the material but the material itself that guides the project. Working from the concept of how women are treated differently within a working environment, (either due to being sexualised, unequal pay and unlikelihood of promotion - all due to being female,) I have combined the body and shirts with the traditional female craft of embroidery.

These works have been displayed to mimic a wardrobe, representing the motion of getting dressed every day; choosing an identity to present, be it intentional or not, is a repetitive action that everyone can relate to.
